Audi revealed this lightweight, high performance GT version of its R8 Spyder at the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Power from its 5.2-litre V10 engine has been increased from 518bhp to 552bhp, its 0-62mph time has been cut to 3.8sec and its top speed has been increased to 197mph. A six-speed R tronic transmission is standard.

Audi has also slashed 85kg from the all-wheel drive R8 Spyder’s kerb weight to 1640kg in the GT, mainly with the adoption of cabronfibre for some body panels, the modified front spoiler, fixed rear spoiler and new rear bumper.
Styling changes include add-on parts in titanium grey, a dual lip front splitter, a revised front bumper, red GT badges, round exhaust tailpipes, an enlarged rear diffuser and dark LED taillights behind clear glass.

The all-black interior is where the most drastic weight saving has taken place; the addition of new bucket seats saved 31.5kg on their own.
Like the GT version of the coupe before it, production of the Audi R8 GT Spyder will be capped at 333 units, around 10 per cent of which are likely to be sold in the UK.
