Skoda has announced the arrival of its fastest ever car, the 200mph, 590bhp Skoda Octavia vRS special.
Secretly designed and built by Skoda’s UK technical team in Milton Keynes, the hardcore Octavia vRS marks the 10th anniversary of its vRS performance flagship badge and will be entered into the Bonneville Speed Week, running between August 13 and 20.

Skoda will aim to break the 200mph mark in the ‘2.0-litre production car’ category over a nine-mile straight.
The Octavia uses a production-standard 2.0-litre four-cylinder TSI engine, onto which is bolted a specially designed Garret turbocharger.
“Generating up to 590bhp, and producing 26-28 PSI of boost pressure, it drinks high-octane race fuel,” Skoda says. That’s an increase of over 380bhp and 170lb ft of torque compared with the standard car.
As well as the drastic changes to power, the one-off road-racer also sits 80mm closer to the ground and features a reinforced roll cage, parachute, fire extinguishers and window cage as well as a race prepared intercooler.
Director for Skoda UK Robert Hazelwood said: “It’s an ambitious project which might surprise a few people, but Skoda is all about engineering excellence and this car is pushing that to new limits.”
