Renault has launched its new 1.5-litre dCi Clio Expression Eco, a car the company claims is the cheapest sub-100g/km Co2 supermini in the UK.
Prices start from £12,450 for the three-door version, which undercuts its rivals – the £13,895 Ford Fiesta Econetic and £14,860 Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion by £1445 and £2410 respectively. For the five-door car, customers pay a premium of £600.
The frugal diesel unit produces 94g/km of Co2 and over 78mpg, according to Renault. That’s an improvement of 4g/km Co2 and over 2mpg, over its predecessor and enough to give the Clio a range of “949 miles.”
New features of the Clio Expression Eco include 15-inch Aero wheel trims with body-coloured Aero rear spoiler and low resistance tyres, as well as the usual Expression spec - electric front windows and door mirrors and front fog lights.
