GM plans to finesse the styling, develop the sophisticated network communication system and engineer an alternative powerpack to replace the two-wheel Segway ‘skateboard’ used in the concepts with a more conventional three-wheel or four-wheel set-up.

GM wants to test the cars in a one-square-mile site free of other vehicles, such as a ground-up new city or Olympic village.
