General Motors' European arm has a new Chief Executive Officer.
Karl-Friedrich Stracke, who is currently GM’s global head of engineering, will replace Brit Nick Reilly.
Reilly, who took over at GME in the aftermath of the credit crunch, will continue as president of GM Europe and is being nominated as the head of the Opel/Vauxhall supervisory board.
Reports say Reilly will also oversee Cadillac and Chevrolet in Europe.
55 year-old Stracke has worked for GM for 32 years and will take over at the beginning April.
Reports today quote Reilly as saying that he would remain at Opel’s Russelsheim HQ and, once he had handed over to Stracke, he was expecting to spend more time looking at GME’s ‘long-term strategic positioning’ on the European market.
