New Jeep Patriot given revised styling, equipment levels and handling

Jeep has unveiled details and pictures of the new 2011 Jeep Patriot, which has seen changes to its styling and equipment levels.

Jeep says that the model’s ride and handling has also been refined by retuning the steering and suspension.

Exterior styling changes include a body colour grille, a revised front fascia with the fog lights positioned inside the headlamps, a new rear fascia that extends lower than on previous models and 17in wheels that are now available as an option.

The interior now boasts soft-touch front-door trim panels, a new centre armrest and a new cloth interior with premium cloth bucket seats in the front.

Other changes include the introduction of steering wheel-mounted controls for the radio, cruise control and hands-free phone, and new backlighting for the door switches, locks, windows and power mirror controls.

There are three trim levels – Sport, Latitude and Latitude X – and all are offered with either front-wheel or four-wheel drive. Speed control is standard on all models and automatic temperature control is standard on the Latitude X.

Accessibility equipment includes a low-range mode, 19in water fording capability, Hill Descent Control and brake traction control.

The new Jeep Patriot will come to the UK early next year.

'the Foglights are now inside the headlights'. What are those illuminated round things in the bumper then? Running lights?
What they mean is the foglights are moved from the outside off the bumper to a more central position on the bumper and they are not literaly with the main lights now but they are on the inside as regards the main lights if you get me . I only jusy got this lol was looking at the old model to try spot the differences lol iff you need a better idea just get a pick off the old model pre revamp and youl see what I mean . I Quiet like this car .Its honest reliable good off road and easy too place on the road and too park .

the interior is a vast improvement, its decent off road, its cheap as chips and it looks pretty good. Its been selling OK in the UK

I agree it is a quiet nice interior now . They are good off road . Thats good I hope Jeep sell many more off them iff I had 15thosand I think I woukld prefer one off these over any supermini has much more space and can go places a supermini can,t .

and the fact that its a fairly no-frills, utilitarian kind of vehicle is surely part of its appeal. Even the review by Autocar is fairly kind.

Yes indeed I agree . Yes it is indeed . It is also an easy car to place because off its square styling no silly coupe style low rear and small rear window that is virtually useless .

When you think how much the average supermini costs these days, £15k for one of these is astonishing. The fact that most people are too blinkered to even consider it as an option makes it even more appealing IMO.

+1

I know they don't have the best interiors etc, etc but they are excellent value for money.

I also think that they are quite cool in a way that a Ford Kuga or Kia Sportage will never be.
