Porsche’s new 918 Spyder is set to become the company’s most expensive car, topping the Carrera GT.
The hybrid supercar may end up being priced at around 500,000 euro (£420,000) – eclipsing the £321,000 Carrera GT – sources connected to the model have told Bloomberg.

The sources have also claimed that more than 2000 expressions of interest have already been received for the car, although an official order book has yet to be opened by Porsche.
The 918 Spyder was one of three hybrid models presented by the Stuttgart-based manufacturer at the Geneva motor show in March.
The 918 Spyder can reportedly get from 0-62mph in just 3.2sec and reach a top speed of almost 200mph. It is powered by a 3.4-litre V8 petrol engine, producing around 500bhp, and two 80kW electric motors allowing the vehicle to run up to 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) on electric power. Its CO2 emissions are 70g/km.
Porsche says that it is capable of lapping the Nürburgring in less than 7m 30s.

Re: Porsche 918 'from £420k'
Another car for fools with more money than sense.
If truth be told a M600 could hold it up to 160 and
you would save £220.000.
Re: Porsche 918 'from £420k'
I think it's a really nice looking car and you are paying for the tech as well as the performance.
Re: Porsche 918 'from £420k'
Really?! Hmm, another Porsche that doesn't grab me much, but is this time horrendously priced!!
Come on people, tell me how someone could justify £420k on a Porsche?!! The Lexus LFA looked like a mickey take with such a high list price but this has shocked me too! No wonder Porsche are one of the richest car companies in the world.
Also, just to put it into perspective, you could get around 8 Nissan GTR's for that money which will be nigh on as fast (certainly so in normal daily driving conditions) and maybe have enough change for a coffee to take-out!
I must be one of the only people who would happily have a GTR and save a stack of money on more expensive and less able exotica? The only super/fast car I would have over a GTR which costs more is a Gallardo - which is a heart rather than head decision.
Would anyone else join me and get a GTR and save 350-odd grand?! And does anyone else find Porsche's poser image on a par with Ferrari's and hence sits on the ladder behind Lambo and Aston?
