Mark Webber took a commanding victory at the British GP ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.
The Australian took the lead before the first corner after making a better start than polesitter Sebastian Vettel and was never headed thereafter.

Vettel’s chances of victory were ruined after he picked up a puncture trying to retake the lead on the outside of the first corner. Hamilton took second from Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso at the start after the Spanish driver had made a poor getaway.
Webber said the win was due to karma – the win coming after Red Bull took the only new front wing off Webber's car and gave it to Vettel ahead of qualifying. It follows on from events at the Turkish GP where the team were accused of favouring Vettel.

There was further controversy during the race when Alonso was penalised after being deemed to have overtaken Kubica unfairly. The Spanish driver was adjudged to have cut the corner at Vale and finished outside the points.
The result extends Hamilton’s championship lead to 12 points over teammate Button who moved up from 14th on the grid to finish fourth. Webber is now third, 17 points behind Hamilton, with Vettel – who finished in seventh place after a strong recovery drive – fourth.
