Alfa Romeo CEO Harald Wester expects the firm to meet or even exceed its target of a fivefold increase in global sales over the next four years.
By 2014, Alfa Romeo hopes to be selling 500,000 units a year; in 2009, it sold just over 100,000 units.
Wester told Auto News Europe that the ambitious growth in sales will likely be helped by a number of new model launches in the next four years.
He said the Mito is to get a five-door variant, while the 159 saloon and estate are being replaced by the Giulia. The Giulietta, replacing the 147, reaches showrooms in July.
A new Spider, and two SUVs are also planned, according to Wester.
Wester hopes that new, closer ties with Chrysler following its purchase by Fiat in 2009 will also help Alfa to capitalise on economies of scale within the new partnership.

Re: Alfa expects sales boom
A five fold increase in sales based on replacing previous models with upgrades sounds like hot air. According to the Alfa fans on these blogs, the current Alfa's are just what they want, so that the current 100,000 pa sales secured..
For those of us with less favourable experiences with Alfa's, we'd have to see a real step change to move over or back to Alfa's. Use of Fiat engines (aren't Alfa engines supposed to be wonderfully unique - why not buy the Fiat model with its own engine) and cross branding with Chrysler seem retrograde steps which are not likely to bring in the 400,000 new customers per year. Unless the is simply going to be sticking Alfa badges on Chrysler mini vans.
