Ralf Schumacher is still keen on a Formula One return, despite being overlooked for the 2010 season.
The younger and less successful Schumacher last raced in the sport in 2007 for Toyota and has competed in Germany’s DTM touring car series ever since.
In an interview with German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, the six-time race winner Schumacher said the criticism of his brother Michael since his return to F1 with Mercedes this year hasn’t put him off making his own comeback.
“I see it completely differently," he said. "I would still take this step if a good opportunity arose.”
Schumacher went on to defend his older brother, saying that early expectations had been set too high by the public and media.
“With regards to Michael, I don't know what was expected of him by the outside world,” he said. “He sees it in quite a relaxed way, and it would be the same for me. The return was primarily for him, because he has fun with Formula One and was looking for a challenge.”
