The first examples of the BMW Z4 GT3 race car have been delivered to customers.
The car is powered by the M3's 4.0-litre V8, but this is managed by a different ECU and is linked to an uprated six-speed sequential gearbox. As a result, it has 480bhp.

Anti-lock brakes and race wheels are standard. Buyers can opt for air conditioning, which is said to be particularly useful in long-distance races.
It has been sold to customers for 298,00 euros (£269,000) and is eligible for international and national championships that run in accordance with GT3 regulations
These include the FIA GT3 European Championship, International GT Open and the ADAC GT Masters. It is also eligible for a variety of 24-hour endurance races.

Bespoke/low volume = high cost
That aside, does anyone else think that this looks the nuts? The rear diffuser looks particularly aggressive. If it sounds good it may even take top spot from the C6.R as my favourite racer...

Same as if you want to make your own WRC rally car or Touring car, you just need to strip out the interior of a road car and put a roll cage in.
Fancy a go at world Superbike racing?. Just buy a suitable model road bike, take the number plates off and away you go!.
Sorry, it's just not that simple.
I guarantee you would be amazed at how little this race car has in common with a road going Z4, even if you fitted one with an M3 engine.
It's a bespoke race car, don't be fooled by the looks.
