Ferrari driver competes in annual charity karting event in Brazil

Ferrari's Felipe Massa has returned to competitive racing action for the first time since his accident at the Hungarian grand prix in July.

Massa took a third and a first place in the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champions at Florianopolis in Brazil, which was won overall by Michael Schumacher.

In the first race, Massa started 11th before passing Renault test driver Lucas di Grassi on the last lap to take third. In race two, Massa beat his former Ferrari team-mate Michael Schumacher to victory by just 0.087 seconds. Schumacher took the overall victory for the two race event on points with a first and a second place.

The star studded field included F1 racers past and present Christian Fittipaldi, Rubens Barrichello, Nelson Piquet, Antonio Pizzonia, Enrique Bernoldi, Tarso Marques, Ricardo Zonta and Luciano Burti.

Re: Massa returns to race action

-i do not know about that, he beat some old F1 drivers and a bloke just out of hospital! i would not call that a great comeback!!!

-especially in the second race when the fresh out of the hospital massa beat him; as soon as massa got his eye in! (no pun intended!!)

-on a serious note its great to see massa back! it is brilliant he made a full recovery and is back racing again!! 2010 is going to be his year! - go on Massa!
