All-electric van production will begin in the first half of 2011 in France

Renault will begin production of its new Kangoo ZE van in France in the first half of 2011.

The Kangoo was one of four all-electric concepts unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in September as Renault aims to become a market leader in electric propulsion technology.

Last week, it confirmed production of its Twizy EV city car would commence at its Valladolid plant in Spain in 2011. Valladolid’s sister plant in Flins, France will be used to build a production version of the Zoe ZE supermini concept in 2012.

Renault confirms Twizy production

The Kangoo EV will be built at its MCA (Maubeuge Construction Automobile) plant where the regular Kangoo is built alongside Kangoo Van and Kangoo be bop models. MCA, in northern France, has been building Renault’s commercial vehicles for the past 20 years.
