Volkswagen could be set to sell its new Golf R in the US, according to senior officials in the country.
VW of America CEO Stefan Jacoby told US media that the Golf R, which was unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show, was being considered for sale in the US and no decision had yet to be taken on its potential launch.

With 266bhp, 236lb ft of torque and a new hydraulic four-wheel drive system, the Golf R can go from 0-62mph in 5.7sec, or 5.5sec if equipped with VW’s DSG dual-clutch transmission. Its top speed is electronically limited to 155mph.
Andres Valbuena, VW's US product planner, is reportedly pushing for the Golf R to be sold in the US as he feels there ould be adequate demand for it. The Golf R32, which is the R's predecessor, was sold in the country in limited numbers.
Valbuena is keen to see the US version of the Golf R available in both three- and five-door form, with both manual and DSG transmissions offered, although only one option is likely to be available due to it being such a niche product in the US.
A decision is expected to be taken on a US launch of the VW Golf R later this year.

Re: VW Golf R evaluated for US sale
Wow, sorry to hear about your problem mate. My friend had a problem with his low mileage 4 year old Mercedes. He took it in for a service and they found out that the gearbox was leaking oil. They serviced the car and fixed the oil leak for free even though the guarantee had expired! :D
Next time maybe you should pay a bit more and buy a Mercedes-Benz! :D
