The Skoda Superb estate, officially unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show, will arrive in the UK next spring.
Skoda is predicting sales of just 1500 a year - around a third of overall Superb sales. Skoda UK told Autocar it is mainly expecting sales to come from fleet operators and not private buyers, despite the value it offers over rivals including the Volvo V70.
The car has Octavia-inspired styling and features an electric tailgate and power panoramic roof. A magnetic torch stashes away in the roof, which can be unclipped.

The estate retains the same length, wheelbase and width with the conventional Superb but it is taller at the back. It also benefits from revised rear seating to maximise load space.
The engine line-up will include the three petrols and three diesels from the current Superb range, linked to five and six-speed gearboxes. DSG dual-clutch transmissions will also be an option.
A model with a Haldex developed four-wheel drive system will also be available, linked to the Superb's 3.6-litre V6 and the DSG gearbox to create a sports estate model.
Skoda has not indicated at any prices, but expect the Superb wagon to start at around £17,000. This price would represent a significant saving over the £23,745 cost for a standard V70.

Re: First pics: Skoda Superb estate
I had a look around the new Legacy and Outback which were parked in front of my local Subaru dealer. Whilst they seemed nicer than in reality that in pictures (much more 'chunky' than the current models) it's a huge shame that they don't seem to be selling the 3.6 litre, well at least not in Switzerland. The 2.5 Turbo is nice enough but it does need to be revved to get it to move. It doesn't make for relaxing progress, especially for passengers.
Maybe this in the 3.6 with 4WD is an option, but how it really will handle, especially on non-tarmacced roads or snow will need to be seen. Hopefully it won't have the usual VAG traits of poor steering / brake feel and nannying electronics.
Re: First pics: Skoda Superb estate
The Superb looks a lot better in estate form. Even with it's "slopey" rear it beats the E- class by 50 litres with seats folded.
