This is a development mule for the next-generation Ford Focus, which is scheduled to go on sale in 2011.
Although much of the car is the current Focus, development work on this mule is focusing on the front end, and particularly the disguised front bumper and grille, both of which are new parts.

It is believed that this shows a possible design direction for the new car, and that the engineers are assessing under-bonnet cooling as a result of a new engine position and front-end layout.
The overall styling direction for the next Focus will be taken from the Ford Iosis Max concept car, which was unveiled in Geneva this year as a preview for both the next C-Max and Focus.
