Iconic AC Roadster hits 60mph in less than three seconds

AC is working on an 800bhp roadster that takes inspiration from the classic Cobra.

The Iconic AC Roadster has a claimed top speed of 210mph and will hit 60mph in less than three seconds, before covering a quarter mile in under nine seconds.

The car is scheduled to be launched at this weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours. It is a joint venture between AC and American firm Iconic Motors.

While retaining much of the sillouette of the Cobra, the new roadster has a more modern look, with integrated lights front and rear. It will be fitted with a 6.9-litre V8 and constructed from lightweight materials.

“The Iconic AC Roadster is more than just a car, it’s among the world’s most refined and beautifully designed supercars," said Claudio Ballard, chairman of Iconic Motors. "It’s probably the lightest, strongest, most well engineered high-performance roadster of our time,”
