Volkswagen has launched a BlueMotion version of its new Golf Plus, with CO2 emissions of 114g/km and combined fuel economy of 65.7mpg.
The VW Golf Plus BlueMotion uses the same 104bhp 1.6-litre common-rail TDI engine as the regular Golf BlueMotion.
Its CO2 emissions and fuel economy figures are 10 per cent and 11 per cent better respectively over the outgoing 1.9-litre TDI-powered Golf Plus BlueMotion.
Eco modifications include revised gear ratios in third, fourth and fifth, the addition of low-resistance tyres, a stop-start system and regenerative braking.
The Golf Plus BlueMotion is available in two trim levels - S and SE - and its standard features are the same as on the regular models. These include ABS, ESP, six airbags, air conditioning, a CD player and a gearchange recommendation function to help improve economy.
Prices for the new Golf Plus BlueMotion start at £17,570 in S trim. It is available to order now and deliveries are due to start in October.
