Development version being built for Nordschleife testing

Aston Martin is building a development version of its One-77 hypercar to take to Germany’s Nurburgring, Autocar has learnt.

The car is still being developed and at present is just a running prototype to be exhibited at shows.

But Chris Porritt, One-77 programme manager, says the next stage of the car’s development is to build a pre-production version for fine tuning at the ’Ring.

The One-77 will be going into production in spring next year, said Porritt, with the first customers receiving their cars in mid-2010.

Forty confirmed orders have now been taken for the One-77, each of which takes three and a half months to build. Customers for the car come from as far afield as China.

Porritt says the One-77 has a downforce-enhanced drag coefficient of “just under 0.40”, which is comparable with that of the Porsche Carrera GT.
