The Touareg BlueMotion is fitted with a more efficient, but lower powered, version of the standard car’s 3.0-litre V6 TDI common rail diesel engine which develops 222bhp, and drives through a six-speed automatic tiptronic gearbox.

CO2 emissions are cut to 219 g/km, down from 244 g/km, and combined economy improves from 30.4mpg to 34.0mpg.

The reduced emissions of the BlueMotion mean it now qualifies for band K road tax at £215 a year, saving £190 over the standard Touareg 3.0-litre V6 TDI.

Prices start at £34,150 for the entry level model and rise to £37,545 for the SE. Deliveries begin in September.
