Aston Martin’s LMP1 Le Mans challenger won its debut race on Sunday.
The Aston Martin Racing Lola-Aston of Stefan Mucke, Tomas Enge and Jan Charouz took victory in a dramatic opening round of the Le Mans Series at Barcelona.
The lead Aston Martin was in second place when a safety car was called with forty minutes to go.
When the race resumed, the Aston was 4.0sec behind the Pescarolo Judd of Christophe Tinseau and Jean-Christophe Boullion, which the Aston managed to pass, eventually beating it by 14 seconds.
The Lola-Aston’s main challengers for the Le Mans 24-hours – the turbodiesel Audi R15 and Peugeot 908 – were not racing, however, so the British car was not able to test itself against them.
