Japanese fashion designer gives SL a modern twist

Money may not buy happiness, but it does buy a classic Mercedes 300SL that you can completely ruin at your leisure.

That's a point proven by this, a gullwing SL that's been fitted with a 6.0-litre V8 and covered in camouflage.

It is the brainchild of Japanese fashion designer Nigo, the man behind clothing brand Bathing Ape, and according to the plaque inside the car it was built by AMG itself.

There are few details on the car, but rumour has it that under the skin are modern mechanicals to keep it on the road.

It has been lowered and fitted with AMG alloys.

Nigo’s previous automotive excesses include a Bugatti Veyron covered in pink camouflage bodywork.
