Dodge has announced that prices for the new seven-seat Journey MPV will start from £16,995 when it hits UK showrooms later this month. For that you get the thirsty 173bhp 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol model; the more appealing 138bhp 2.0 CRD engine starts at £17,995 in the Dodge Journey SE, making it £1000 cheaper than the base diesel Ford S-Max with which it competes. The Journey SE is well equipped too, with three-zone climate control, six-disc CD player and keyless entry included on the base SE models.
The cheapest automatic model comes in at £21,195 for the Journey 2.0 CRD SXT, which also gets cruise control, fog lights, 17-inch alloys, and electric driver’s seat. The range-topping 2.0 CRD R/T Automatic costs £22,995, and includes heated front seats, leather interior, chrome roof rails and 19-inch alloys. At nearly £23k, though, the all-American MPV is going to need its impressive standard equipment and family-friendly storage solutions to attract buyers; stretch to an extra £50 and you can get the benchmark Ford S-Max 2.0 TDCi Titanium.
