The new Subaru Impreza is set to get a power upgrade from rally specialist Prodrive.
As it did with the previous-generation Impreza, Prodrive will be offering a performance pack that increases the car’s power without invalidating the manufacturer’s three-year warranty.
The Prodrive Performance Pack will be available on the new 2.5-litre turbocharged WRX STI. A package for the standard WRX is also highly likely.
Subaru UK had initially said it was unlikely that Prodrive would tweak the new Impreza, but as the 2.5-litre boxer engine is a lightly modified version of that in the old car, it has clearly proved easy to do.
The 297bhp WRX STi is likely to get a boost of around 100bhp from Prodrive, which should make this already rapid machine one of the fastest cars for around £30,000.
Prodrive is also said to be working on brake and suspension upgrades for the new Impreza.
