Birthday edition 9-3s and 9-5s get £3000 of kit thrown in for free

Saab will celebrate 60 years of making cars next year and is planning a series of initiatives to mark the special occasion. The first of these are anniversary editions of its 9-5 and 9-3 models including up to £3000 of extras for no extra cost. The special editions will come equipped with DVD satnav, five-spoke 17-inch alloys and a special-edition ‘Ice Blue Metallic’ paintjob, and they will go on sale in January.

Founded in 1937 as a manufacturer of military aircraft, Saab surprised the automotive world 10 years later when it launched the prototype for its first production model: the 92. Featuring streamlined bodywork, unitary construction and front-wheel drive, it instantly established the marque’s reputation for bold design.
