Hot tunes meet hot-ish hatch in the Renault Twingo concept, revealed in Paris today (September 28).
With a mixing desk and retractable 15-inch monitor built into its dash, a USB for iPod or Smartphone, built-in light show, energy drinks chilled by a special compartment in its boot and speakers that face outwards when the rear hatch is open, this car’s a rave on wheels.
At just 3.6 metres, it’s short, squat and assertive, too. Powered by Renault’s new turbocharged 1.2 16V TEC 100 petrol engine – which boasts 100bhp and a useful 140g/km emissions figure – this concept’s sporty aspirations are emphasised by its yellow-chrome 17-inch wheels, bucket seats and twin tailpipes.
But never mind the concept's fancy trimmings - the real news is that unlike its predecessor this Twingo will come to the UK. The production Twingo – part of La Regie’s 26-vehicle Commitment 2009 – will go on sale in France next spring, and in the UK towards the end of next year.
Renault's other Paris concept is the 4x4 Koleos off-roader
