After 22 years and three generations, the MR2 is to bow out with a run of special-edition cars.
Just 300 TF300 special editions will be made, each with a numbered plaque, leather and Alcantara upholstery and twin sports exhaust, and costing £18,015
The mid-engined MR2 has been a hit with British drivers since its introduction in 1984. The original coupé packed a 1.6-litre engine producing 122bhp – little less than the 138bhp of today’s 1.8-litre unit, which pushes the MR2 to 62mph in eight seconds.
The MR2 is the second of Toyota’s sports cars to bite the dust in the past year – production of the Celica stopped last September, as it did not meet Euro 4 emissions regulations.
