Fiat's new Punto has notched up a sales increase of 64 per cent compared with March 2005.
Despite UK car sales being down by 1.6 per cent on that period, Fiat has found its sales saviour in the Punto, having sold 5,600 of them in its first full month on sale.
This makes Fiat the fastest-growing volume brand in the country; a stark contrast to 2005's performance. That year saw Fiat's UK sales decline by 50 per cent.
It's been a long time since a Fiat featured in a UK top ten sellers' list, but perhaps the Punto could be the car for the job.
