The Brussels show will see the launch of Renault’s facelifted Mégane, the changes leaving only the Scénic and Grand Scénic left untouched.
The external changes tighten up the front end neatly, but you’ll be hard-pressed to notice unless you drive by a forecourt with new and old together. In the cabin, there's a sensor explosion: parking sensors, rain sensors and light sensors have all been added. There also is an updated satnav system and an active carbon cabin filter.
But the most significant changes are to the diesels: they’re all now Euro4 compliant and the 1.5 dCI unit, in two states of tune, has been added to the range. The 1.5s are both up 5bhp to 85bhp and 105bhp; the revised 1.9 is up to 130bhp and gets a particulate filter but the real news is the range-topping 2.0 dCi, which packs a 150bhp punch and so pushes the Renault to 60mph from rest in just 8.7 seconds.
