Ford announced yesterday prices for the forthcoming Focus ST. The hot hatch will be the most powerful Focus to date, producing 222bhp at 6100rpm and 236lb ft of torque from just 1600rpm. This is enough to propel the ST to 60mph in 6.5sec and on to a top speed of 150mph.
The 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine will be available in three specifications. The entry-level ST will cost just £17,495, undercutting the Vauxhall Astra VXR and VW Golf GTi by £1500 and £2500 respectively. It comes with 18-inch wheels, ST body styling, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, Recaro seats and a dashboard pod housing turbo boost, oil temperature and pressure gauges.
Move up to the £18,495 ST2 and you get xenon headlamps, stability and traction control, MP3-compatible Sony CD player and a heated front windscreen.
The range-topping ST3 is equipped with full leather trim and 10-way electrically adjustable front seats for £19,495.
Order books will open on 1 October for both three- and five-door variants, with the choice of five colours, including the Electric Orange exhibited on the concept car.
