Vauxhall adds a capacious Vectra estate to its VXR range

Following the release of pictures of the Vectra VXR hatchback earlier this week, which should be the fastest five-door on the market when it goes on sale in November, Vauxhall has revealed snaps of the VXR Estate, due next March. It converts the staid - and exceptionally voluminous - Vectra Estate into an aggressive performance car, with angular front end dominated by deep air intakes and front spoiler, plus the same stylish alloys and dual trapezoidal exhaust pipes as the Vectra VXR hatch.

Powered by the same 2.8-litre Turbo V6 engine as the hatch, top speed is not yet confirmed but if it manages to near the hatchback's 161mph it will best the limited 155mph top speeds of cars such as the BMW 330i Touring and Mercedes-Benz C55AMG, making it the fastest estate on the market.
