Currently reading: The Geneva show's brightest stars

The 75th Geneva motor show opens its doors the public tomorrow, and Autocar can report that this year's expo is as tempting a feast of new cars and conceptual extravagance as ever graced Geneva's Palexpo. This year's a special one for its organisers, marking the 100th anniversary of Geneva's first national exhibition, and the 75th of the international show, and the motor industry's biggest players have served up plenty of hiterto unseen metal, both in concept study and road-going form, to make it just as memorable for visitors.

Among the new cars on show are Mazda's new MX-5, Audi's RS4 super saloon, BMW's new 3-series, Lexus' reinterpreted IS saloon, VW's new Passat, Ford's forthcoming Focus ST, Ferrari's F430 Spider, Peugeot's 107 city car, Citroen's C6 and C1, Toyota's Aygo and Honda's next Civic - all are bound for a road near you soon, and well worth an advance look. Looking further ahead, concepts like Peugeot's 407 Prologue, Lamborghini's Concept-S, Skoda's Yeti 4x4 and the striking Ford SAV crossover provide a telling taste of what's slighty further off in the pipeline, while fascinating exibits like Mitsubishi and Giuguaro's hydrogen-powered Nessie concept and the Bertone Villa challenge the assumptions and expectations of makers and show-goers alike.
