Vauxhall's plan to launch a VXR version of the Meriva mini-MPV has become clearer, using the 1.6-litre turbocharged engine developed for the cancelled hot Corsa, thought to develop around 160bhp. Vauxhall/Opel is hoping that the Meriva will emulate the success of the larger Zafira GSi, which well outstripped its original sales expectations. It’s expected to be launched late next year for around £15,000 and will be distinguished by body styling not dissimilar to the original M Concept car (above).
