Citroën’s C4 World Rally Championship entrant appeared for the first time last week. Rolling out on the test track near Citroën’s WRC workshops in Versailles, the new car will now begin development before its competition debut next year.
It will succeed the team’s 2003 constructors’ title-winning Xsara-based car, which has since won six of this season’s eleven events.
As dictated by WRC regulations, the four-wheel-drive C4 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre motor – in this case reclined by 25 degrees. It develops 315bhp and 420lb ft of torque.
