Currently reading: A6 takes a racing S line

Audi’s new A6 executive saloon has been given an even sharper driver focus for those that want it, with the addition of a new trim featuring 18-inch alloy wheels, lower sports suspension, sports seats and a visual makeover both inside and out.

The modifications come as part of a new trim called S line. Offered alongside the current SE specification, it adds new 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, sports suspension lowered by some 30mm, embossed part-leather sports seats, a leather-covered three-spoke steering wheel and gear knob, and brushed aluminium fascia inlays; it comes at an average £3000 premium. For a further £1100 (or £875 on 4.2-litre quattro models), Audi will add revised front and rear bumpers and a unique front grille featuring special S line badging, setting it apart from the standard car (right). All S line cars bar the entry-level 2.4-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel also inherit the range-topping 4.2-litre V8’s 17-inch vented discs for improved braking performance. The new range starts at £27,145 for a 2.4-litre petrol V6 S line, rising to £28,245 for the same car complete with exterior makeover; Audi’s 4.2-litre quattro A6 S line tops it off at £45,360 with the new bumpers and grille factored in.
