This week we drive the car that plays BMW's practicality card better than ever before; the new load-lugging 530d. It's a car that trades some the saloon's notoriously contentious looks for added versatility and, according to Chris Harris, this makes it close to 'the most perfect exec estate', capable of 150mph, 0-62mph in 7.4sec, 35mpg and accomodating seriously generous loads. 'People often ask me what car I would want to to live with every day as my daily drive,' he goes on. 'The answer came from a list of one.... With the introduction of this car, that list doubles.'
