The Jikoo concept car is a double nod by Nissan to the past, commemorating both the company’s 70th birthday and the 400th anniversary of Edo, the city now known as Tokyo.
The company claims the two-seater echoes both the 1935 Datsun Roadster, with its long, high nose and short deck, and also classic British roadsters from the 1930s and ’40s.
The cabin contains twin sat-nav which simultaneously flashes up maps of Tokyo now, and how the city looked 400 years ago. Other references to a bygone era include the use of water buffalo horn on the steering wheel.
Nissan says the unpowered show car is a celebration, and has no plans to put it into production
