It had to happen sooner or later – and now it has. Vauxhall Signums are starting to shape up as enticing used buys.
Most of the cars are still sitting, unsold, at main dealers, but that doesn’t mean prices are over the top. One of the best deals we spotted was an 03-plate 2.0T Elegance with just 2000 miles on the clock for £15,995. This already shows a £2500 saving over the list price, but the salesman was keen to trade – indicating that the deal could get a lot sweeter with some face-to-face haggling.
Deals are also in evidence on other versions. We spotted a 2.2 DTi Design and a 2.2 Elite for £16,795 and £18,500 respectively at Vauxhall dealers. Both had covered less than 5000 miles and the dealers were even prepared to undercut their forecourt sticker prices.
The bad news is that there’s still no sign of Signums leaking into the independent network, so punters will have to wait for even better deals at used-car supermarkets. However, outlets we contacted claimed that it would only be a matter of weeks before Signums would be available. When that happens, expect the big Vauxhall to become an even better-value used buy.
