First look at facelifted model

The entire Mini range will be facelifted in August, and these spy pictures give the first look at how the Mini Clubman S will look.

The styling changes are designed to give the car a sportier look, and take some of the design cues set by the upcoming Countryman S model.

Reports suggest a hot diesel version of the car will also go on sale later this year.

Mini’s engineers have successfully managed to fit the BMW four-cylinder engine, designed for a longitudinal application, into the Mini’s engine bay in a transverse installation. The work involved in fitting the BMW engine to the Mini was described by our source as "tricky".

The first of the new Mini diesels will have around 150bhp, similar to that of the 118d, but sources say it would also be possible to use the more powerful twin-turbo diesel from the 123d in the Mini. That would create a Mini diesel with over 200bhp, and could form the basis for a John Cooper Works diesel Mini.

The new Mini diesels are expected to be unveiled at next year’s Geneva motor show in March, and go on sale in the summer.

Look at the price of the petrol JCW, and them add, what 1500 to it? maybe more?

Exactly what I was thinking. The Clubman JCW is already nearly £23k. If we're guessing at £24.5k once you've added the obligatory packs to it you're looking at £27-28k. That's awfully close to Alpina D3 money....

I read the article with the thought that it sounded a great idea, a Mini with the 123d engine, and then I read this comment...........I'm feeling a bit depressed now because I fear that you are right: that's another good idea for a replacement car that has gone up in smoke.
Aww I'm sorry, didnt mean to depress you. But you know I'll be right. Look at the price of the petrol JCW, and them add, what 1500 to it? maybe more?
