The all-new Mini Roadster will cost from £18,020 when it goes on sale this month.

The two-seat Roadster is the sixth variant in Mini’s range and will join the Hatch, Convertible, Clubman, Countryman and Coupe.

Gearbox choices on all models include the standard model's six-speed manual or the optional six-speed automatic 'box (apart from on the JCW, which retains a manual set-up.)

Standard kit across the Roadster board includes rear parking sensors and an MP3-compatible DAB audio system. Also on the list are front and occupant head airbags and polished stainless-steel roll-over bars.

Surely a well looked after preowned MX5 at (say) £12,000 is super value and fun to an £18,000 cut down Mini

Any 'well looked after preowned' car will look better value than a new base model of any car, so I am not sure what you are getting at. You are not really comparing like with like.

I spent said half hour in a Mini dealership across the road sitting in the 2 door Coupe (which strangey enough I found myself really liking ?????) making brmmm brmmmm noises
Aww I remember doing that when I was a kid in my dad's Ford Sierra! haha

I like the roadster much better than the coupe. I a coupe regularly on the roads in Edinburgh. its the basic Cooper, but no matter what angle I look at it, that roof spoils it for me.
