Engine and aerodynamic tweaks to the Nissan Pixo have brought the compact city car's CO2 emissions below 100g/km for the first time.
The one-litre, three-cylinder engine has been retuned, meaning emissions fall from 103g/km to 99g/km, making the Pixo exempt from the London congestion charge and putting it in VED band A, making it road tax exempt.
Claimed fuel consumption is now put at a claimed 54.3mpg for a 67bhp Pixo equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox.
The 2012-specification Pixo also gets two new metallic exterior colours and a mildly revamped interior, which now includes an electronic auto-dimming rear view mirror as standard.
Prices for the Nissan Pixo start at £7250 for the basic Visia trim, with the range-topping N-tec five-door model costing an extra £1000. A four-speed automatic transmission is an £900 option on the higher N-tec trim level cars.
