Honda has been named the most reliable used car brand for the seventh consecutive year in What Car? magazine and Warranty Direct’s annual reliability survey.
According to the survey, the likelihood of a Honda car breakdown in any 12-month period is only 10 per cent.
Toyota followed Honda in the reliability survey, with results revealing a 17 per cent failure rate in the same 12-month period. Lexus was third with 18 per cent, while Land Rover was left trailing last – for the 11th year running – with results revealing a 71 per cent 12-month failure rate.
Honda UK managing director Dave Hodgetts said: “Success in reliability studies like this further proves the dedication, skill and passion of our engineers, both at the development and manufacturing stages.”
What Car? editor in chief Chas Hallett said: “When a car leaves the car makers’ warranty protection, it can start to cost the consumer cash and inconvenience. This research highlights that this does not happen often with a Honda."

Does these results take into
Does these results take into account mileage, or just the number of claims in total?
On another note, I have a Toyota and for me the whole japanese quality thing never happened materialised, it's the worst I ever had (bought from new).
All the old tales!
In the days of the air cooled VW, garages hated them because their owners somehow had been persuaded their little pets never gave any trouble. When, inevitably, they did, thus it had to be the garage's fault! I do sniff a bit of black propaganda around even amongst the current line of postings although most likely no more than repetition of received opinions already sown.
Here is a bit of kosher personal experience. Car door mirror starts to become loose so vehicle taken round to dealers. With no prior appointment car is taken straight into the workshops where the job, simple in itself but requiring the door panel to be stripped down, is done whilst I wait. Very favourable rating on manufacturers satisfaction level form is followed up by a telephone call on the maker's behalf. The maker:- Citroen. The service:- peerless!
