The new BMW Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo is being readied for its premiere at the Geneva motor show next month.
The B3 Bi-Turbo is based on the latest F30 generation of the BMW 3-series. Autocar understands the car will be offered initially as a saloon, with a Touring model following later. Coupé and convertible variants will launch over the coming years.
The Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo shown in this official image carries a front lip spoiler with Alpina’s logo across the front. BMW’s blue and white roundel has been retained. Last year, Autocar uncovered images of the car during testing which showed the car will feature bespoke alloy wheel designs, a small boot spoiler and a quad exhaust system.
The B3 will be powered by a reworked version of BMW's 3.0-litre straight six. Power is likely to be marginally increased over the current model to around 410bhp. Peak power is said to be available from 5500rpm to the car’s 7000rpm redline. Torque of around 400lb ft will be available from 1300rpm.
An eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox will be fitted. Power will be transferred to the rear wheels, although four-wheel drive will be offered optionally. Expect performance to be increased over the BMW 335i, with 62mph reached in around 5.0sec. It is said to be around 20 per cent more efficient than the car it replaces.

B3 not D3
The B3 has been based on the 6 cylinder engine from the 335 for some time. The D3 was based on the 4 cylinder engine from the 123d.
I'm hoping the next D3 uses the same engine as they put in the D5 ie the 6 cyclinder.
4WD is welcome here in Switzerland. Alpina told me that they wouldn't be making a X-drive D5 because 'our customers prefer a LSD in low-grip situations).

no tease required its always the same lips, spoiler and wheels etc added to alpina cars.
I do think the addition of 4WD available on the alpina will be an interesting proposition if this true, especially in the UK market where BMW are only just starting to introduce X-Drive BMW's except for the X range of cars.
Should be an interesting car nevertheless and should sell decentley well, but the D3 will be the version that will sell like hot cakes for alpina.
Just makes me wonder what the BMW M3/M4 will be like when they get unveiled will they be vastily difference in how they perform and drive as the new alpina B3.
