Lancia has added a 176bhp 2.8-litre diesel engine to its Voyager at Geneva

Lancia has revealed a new 176bhp diesel version of its Voyager MPV at the Geneva motor show.

The 2.8-litre common-rail turbodiesel offers 266lb ft of torque from 1400rpm to 3400rpm, reputedly delivering greater flexibility and responsiveness.

A four-cylinder unit, the 2.8-litre engine features four valves per cylinder, dual overhead belt-driven camshafts, a high-pressure common-rail injection system and a variable geometry turbocharger.

Other features include a composite intake manifold, an EGR exhaust gas recirculation system and other tweaks to reduce vibrations and noise.

Lancia states that the diesel Voyager is capable of 0-62mph in 11.5 seconds and that its top speed is 120mph. Claimed fuel economy is 36mpg and CO2 emissions are rated at 207g/km.

The 2013 Lancia Voyager now also comes with a trailer sway damping system as standard, which helps prevent against dangerous oscillations when towing.

What engine is it ? Its

What engine is it ? Its clearly NOT a Fiat group unit, its either a slightly updated version of the old Merc unit Chrysler used to use, or an old VM unit (which Fiat now owns). The question is, why did they bother with such an old engine ? Why not use the 2.0 litre JTD (in single or twin turbo versions) for more power AND more efficiency, instead ? Bizarre.

Abomination!

That is all.

Poor Vincenzo....

The Lancia badge should never grace such a vehicle.
