An all-new replacement for the Lamborghini Gallardo will be launched in a "short time", a senior Volkswagen Group official in China has revealed.
Weiming Soh, Volkswagen Group China's sales and marketing chief, confirmed the launch of a new Gallardo was imminent on the eve of the Shanghai motor show.
"We will come out with a new Gallardo in a short time and be able to further progress with Lamborghini," said Soh.
Audi is known to be lining up a replacement to the Gallardo's sister car, the Audi R8, for launch in 2014, so it's likely a new Gallardo, which has been on sale for almost a decade, could launch next year also.

R8 in 2014?
I'd have though having just launched the faclifted R8, Audi would wait a year or two following the Gallardo's replacement before launching something with the same engine/platform but significantly cheaper, but I've been wrong before...

I doubt there will be much in the prices this time. Even though the R8 is lauched at £86k, most versions come in around £100k before options. Then if the price gap is small enough, I know which badge I'd rather see on my (imaginary) drive.
