Britain is Ferrari’s biggest market in Europe. The first half of 2013 saw 415 cars delivered to UK customers against 388 in Germany, the firm’s second-biggest European market. Ferrari's trading profit grew by 22 per cent to €176m (£153.4m) with a 20 per cent increase in net profit to €116.2 (£101m). Ferrari delivered 3767 cars, an increase of 2.8 per cent.
The Toyota Aygo now features the same level of safety kit across the range. New equipment includes stability control, curtain airbags and ISOFIX mountings, in addition to ABS, EBD and two airbags previously fitted. The changes are part of a raft of range revisions, which sees equipment enhanced and new trim levels introduced. The range now comprises Active, Active Plus, Mode and Move models. Prices start at £8,595.
Toyota has also announced special editions of the Avensis. The Select is based on the entry-level Access trim and features daytime running lights and a six-speaker stereo with Bluetooth and is priced from £16,595. The Avensis Edition is based on the Icon model, adding automatic headlights and wipers and Toyota’s Touch & Go multimedia system. It is priced from £18,495.
Land Rover's Electric Defender is undertaking real-world trials at the Eden Project in Cornwall. The all-electric Defender will be used to pull Eden's 12-tonne road train and transporting visitors around the site. It has been modified to include a second battery, allowing it to work a full day at the site without requiring a recharge.
British Gas is offering free home charging points for electric vehicle owners until 31 March 2015. It includes a 16-amp data-enabled charging point, suitable connectors and a home survey prior to installation. To qualify, customers need off-street parking, the appropriate permissions for installation and the ability to receive an O2 data signal. Anyone taking up the offer will be given free access to the POLAR network of charging points until the end of March next year.
Volkswagen is offering free insurance on its Volkswagen Up, Volkswagen Polo, Beetle and Beetle Cabriolet models until the end of September. The offers is open to customers choosing a vehicle on Volkswagen’s Solutions PCP finance plan over three years and 30,000 miles. Additionally, all vehicles purchased on Solutions are available with a three year or 30,000 mile service plan for £199.
