Dramatic concept car to form the basis for new 2014 Super GT500 entry

The Lexus LF-CC coupé concept, which was revealed at the 2012 Paris motor show, is set to become a Super GT race car.

It will be developed into a competition car for Japan's 2014 Super GT500 series, and replace the ageing SC 430. The outgoing Super GT car, which was unveiled in 2006, has won two championship titles at the hands of drivers André Lotterer and Juichi Wakisaka.

Lexus's new LF-CC Super GT car will begin testing today, at the Suzuka circuit. The debut of the concept as a high-performance race car correlates with Lexus's previous statements regarding its intended future image as a 'sporting' brand

Distinguishing features of the LF-CC include its dramatic styling, which is claimed to focus primarily on cooling efficiency and aerodynamics. The production version will most likely be offered in both cabriolet and fixed-head forms, and feature a 300bhp rear-drive hybrid powertrain.

Why don't they merge Super

Why don't they merge Super GT500 with DTM ? There have been some extraordinary vehicles in the Japanese series down the years. But where does all this leave the FIA GT series ?
