Britain’s best-selling car, the Ford Fiesta, has rarely sold at list price; today, even post-facelift, the discounts are strong. Sources suggest that official dealers are offering headline prices not far from that. Negotiate, and you may do even better.

Range Rover Evoque sales are as strong as they get, but if you’re prepared to plump for a less popular powertrain then discounts are attainable. The petrol 2.0-litre Si4 240 Dynamic model in three-door trim raises fuel economy and accessibility concerns, but if you can live with both then drivethedeal.com is offering a £4104 saving, bringing the price down to £37,395.

Jaguar F-type deliveries have barely begun, and the maker claims they are selling like the proverbial hot cakes. However, the canny buyer can already find minor discounts out there.
