The Lamborghini Veneno roadster has been displayed in public for the first time, at the CES electronics show in Las Vegas. Just nine versions of the Venero roadster will be built, costing £2.79m each.
The Venero roadster has no roof, and Lamborghini says the “design is focused on optimum aerodynamics and stability through fast corners – with handling akin to that of a racing prototype. Yet it is fully road legal”.
It is powered by a mid-mounted 6.5-litre V12 developing 740bhp mated to a semi-automatic gearbox with five shift modes. Power is sent to all four wheels. Lamborghini claims a 0-62mph time of 2.9sec with a top speed of 220mph for the 1490kg hypercar.
The front end is said to act as a huge wing and the car’s flat underbody incorporates a “sizeable” rear diffuser. Other aero kit includes an adjustable rear wing and a carbonfibre ring around the wheels that create a turbine effect providing cooling to the brake discs.
The “Red Veneno” paint was developed specifically for the Veneno roadster, although customers are able to specify other shades.
The car is based around a carbonfibre reinforced polymer monocoque which Lamborghini says is further evidence of its ability to work with CFRP. The chassis is visible from the cabin, and the seats are formed from lightweight forged composite, a material patented by Lamborghini. The interior is trimmed in carbonfibre “CarbonSkin” fibre.

Absolutely barking mad. Everything a Lamborghini should be! A bit on the pricey side, though.
