Updated GT Speed gets 626bhp from twin-turbo W12 engine and a new top speed of 206mph; V8 added to Flying Spur saloon range

The Bentley Continental GT Speed has been updated for 2014, and is now the fastest production car ever made by the firm. The car has made its debut at the Geneva motor show.

With output from its 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine pushed to 626bhp and 605lb ft, the Continental GT Speed is now capable of 206mph in coupé form, while the convertible has a new top speed of 203mph.

Bentley says it has lowered the GT Speed's chassis and stiffened its suspension, as well as adding colour-coded paint to the front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser. The interior has also been updated, and now comes with new stitching and colour options.

The company has also introduced seven new options packages for its Continental models, each featuring different specifications. Among the luxuries offered are new in-seat neck warmers, drilled alloy foot pedals, new boot carpeting and a heated steering wheel. Deliveries of the new GT Speed start this summer.

Elsewhere in the Bentley range, the Flying Spur is now available with a new V8 engine. The new car will be offered alongside the flagship W12 model, and is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 500bhp and 487lb ft of torque.

Bentley says that's enough to let the V8 Flying Spur reach 62mph in 5.2sec with a top speed of 183mph and a range of 520 miles. The V8 Flying Spur's engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive.

The new model also gets cylinder-on-demand technology as part of its upgrades. The new variant rides on 19-inch alloy wheels, upgradeable to 20-inch alloys as part of the Mulliner package. First deliveries of the new car are expected this spring.

The Continental GT

Are they ever going to update the styling, inside and out? It's looked like that (save for a few minor tinkering) for how many years now?

What? Surely not...?

I don't think that the Skoda Metal Grey Metallic paint, the latest badges or the German 'floor covering' make these cars cheap and tacky at all...

I personally think that grey

I personally think that grey GT Speed looks great. The small detail changes to the front and sides look smart in my opinion. Still think the rear lights lack interest but I like it, I like it a lot!
